ROAD KILL'S

Yes sometimes it is hard to pass up that 70 pound bobcat that you just hit. Some things to consider. Check your Hunting guide or your wild life website as to the laws on road kills in your state. Some state's allow road kill collection and mounts, others don't. Remember The weather, Spring means a loose coat that will fall out. Consider how it was hit. If it was gut hit,or gut shot the bacteria in the intestines immediately destroy skin and hair, to an unsavable state. If the game was gut hit you must skin completely immediately to save it. Remember you need your taxidermist to do this due to how and where to cut the game for the type mount you desire. If you desire to become a taxidermist, road kills supply a great starting and practice place. They make a pretty good show room for the taxidermy shop also. happy hunting to all of you.

SEASON'S FOR A REASONUNT,BY HELPING OTHERSEdit

Of course we all know the reason for season's on all wildlife. What we all don't know about how the seasons play a big part in having a quality mount. Spring is the time of most births and mating. When it comes to your mount, You want a full healthy coat, a good weight and size , and very few scars. Mating wild life tend to go through a lot of fights, weight loss, and stress. Parenting wild life also have a lot of weight loss, and unhealthy coat conditions due to having to maintain their young. Not to mention the change of the weather makes their coats thin and ugly. You may kill a fat furry full coat fox, and when you pick up your mount, you may have a skinny little almost bald fox. Don't blame your taxidermist. All that dead hair has covered up a skinny unhealthy fox that had a hard time finding food that winter. When the weather warmed up, all that hair released but didn't fall out due to the health of the fox. When your taxidermist processed the fox all that dead hair came out and the true weight was reviled. That's the reason for the season.
